Bernard Lagat broke the 2 mile American indoor record with a clocking of 8:10:07, breaking the old mark of 8:15:02 held by Doug Padilla for 21 years. Lagat now holds the U.S. indoor record for the 1 mile, 2 mile, 1500 meters, 3000 meters and the 5,000 meters.
