TEXAS WHITETAIL DEER HARVEST DOWN FOR 2010

I found the following article stating that the Texas whitetail deer harvest was down from 2009.  One of the factors, which is understandable, was the economy.  There were plenty of deer hunters that didn’t hit the deer lease as often as they wanted to, due to expensive gasoline or just low on cash because everything else is so expensive.  I know that I end up spending close to $150-$200 for a three day weekend and that’s just my split  between the other hunters. That’s a lot of money for the ordinary Joe,  so I ended up going deer hunting a lot less this year, the first time in many years that I didn’t go most every weekend and sure enough, I did not kill anything.  I did get a doe later in the season at my nephew’s place which is only about 75 miles from home.  Anyway, here is a very good article on whitetailhunting.info that explains why they think it was a slow year:
