TIGER WOODS – NOW A VERY GOOD GOLFER BUT NOT GREAT – ANYMORE

COMMENTARY

What can I say about Tiger Woods that has not been said already?  I can tell you what can be said about my golfing attributes.  All my golfing buddies already know them.  I am a terrible golfer.  I don’t pretend to be good at the game, all I’m doing is giving my opinion.  In the last couple of years, Tiger has made several bad decisions.  He screwed up his personal life to the point that everything else came tumbling down.  In the game of golf, several mechanics, both mental and physical have to merge.  I think the most important is the mental one.  The player’s mind has to be free and clear of any distractions at the beginning and during the round.  For instance, if you just left home and had a heated argument with your wife, that’s going to affect you.  Or, if just before you get to the course, you have a road rage incident, etc., that will mess with your game.  You get the point, I could go on and on.  Your mind has to be clear.  I’m talking from the perspective of a D+ player.  Tiger has to be at the top of his game without distractions when he plays a tournament.  No doubt he can play golf, however, it seems he’s lost his shine.  He didn’t even make the cut on his last outing.  I was listening to a sports radio talk show on a San Antonio station and this one guy put it in perspective.  He said something like, It’s still Tiger Woods playing out there, the same body, the same age, the same face, everything is the same………except, it is not the same Tiger Woods that’s won some 13 or 14 major tournaments.  He’s an entirely different player at this point and I don’t know if he’s going to recover.  Some time back I predicted that he would be back and win a tournament very soon.  It didn’t happen, he got hurt and now it seems like he came back worse that before his injury.  I don’t want to believe it’s all over for him, however, it sure seems like his golden years are over.  He’ll keep making a lot of money by placing in the top ten in some tournaments, but I don’t think he will be winning much.   I hope he makes me eat my words………. What do you all think?
