What do you all think about the new NFL helmet rule? More or less it says that a player that is running with the football can no longer lower their head and hit with their helmet. Huh??? I guess football as we knew it is over with. I played a little football as a running back when I was in high school, never on the varsity team, but football is football. I cannot see where a running back can make contact with the defensive guy without lowering his head. He is trying to run over him. Is he going to run standing straight up? This is going to ruin some very good running backs because that’s the way they have been running with the football all their lives. The right way. You’ve got to lower your body at the point of the collision or you’re going to get hurt. Sometimes you hit helmet to helmet, not intentional. It’s just part of the game. It is my understanding that it applies to defensive players too. The football czars are out of bounds on this. It’s going to hurt the game.
