HELLO AGAIN – OFF-LINE SINCE 2-22-11

March 01, 2011

Come February 22, 2011, I found my website out of service due to the fact that I ran out of allowable bandwidth from my web hosting company.  I bought this website from a company that was offering to sell websites and in addition they would host and serve.  They designed the site and did  a pretty good job of hosting.  The one time before that I ran out of bandwidth, all I did was call and they took care of me right away by extending the amount allowable.  My domain was fixing to expire in the middle of February 2011, so I called them to make sure everything was running smoothly.  To my surprise, all their phones were disconnected.  I could not make contact with anybody from the company.  I started following up to find out what had happened to them.  I spoke to their State “Better Business Bureau” and they stated that the company had an “F” rating and many many complaints.  I then followed up and got the name of their lawyer.  I spoke to the lawyer’s assistant and she  got ahold of one of the principals and he contacted me by e-mail.  It seems that all of my website business was being controlled by the company, administrative passwords, etc.  They never put anything in my name.  According to the contract with them, everything was going to be in my name.  I came to find out that my domain name was registered to them and I had to go through hell to get it put in my name, but I succeeded.  Now, I am trying to get the data backup files and having a hard time acquiring them.  I am also attempting to get all the passwords needed to administer the website.  So, if I am not successful in acquiring all the needed data, my site may go down and I will have to create a new one.  If that does happen, bare with me for a short time and I will be back.  For now, it looks like everything is running alright.  Thanks for your patience.
